Whitebriar Bed and Breakfast
Welcome to Whitebriar Bed and Breakfast!

Welcome to Whitebriar Bed and Breakfast located in Edgewater Park, New Jersey. The Whitebriar Complex includes two historic dwellings across the street from each other known as Dunk’s Ferry Inn at Whitebriar and Historic Whitebriar Bed & Breakfast Inn. It also includes a carriage house next to Dunk’s Ferry Inn at Whitebriar. The name “Whitebriar” is a result of our first acquisition being a 307 year old Quaker Salt Box style white Stucco home, which at some time in history had briar patches in the rear of the building.

Accross the street from the Dunk's Ferry Inn at Whitebriar is The Organic Green Cafe at Whitebriar B&B where all the breakfasts are served for the Bed and Breakfast, as well as lunch and dinner of Soup, Sandwich, Quiche and Salads. Open Monday thru Saturday 7am-7pm. Closed Sundays for Church. Events can be planned after Church on Sundays by appointments so please call the owners at 609-871-9555 (cafe Monday - Saturday) or 609-871-3859 (our home next door to the Cafe, at Whitebriar after 7pm and on Sundays) or our cell phone any time.

"Historic 1930's $5 Depression Dinners" --served Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-6pm. When researching the issue of restauants/cafes during the Great Depression, I found that the owners, deleted the "high end items" and focused on "stick to the ribs basic food", like Meatloaf and Beef Stew. So we adopted "The Historic 1930's $5 Depression Dinner Menu's. Tuesday is Beef Stew and Thursday is Meatloaf. Each is a full meal served with a selection of Marinaded vegetables (sweet & sour carrots, sweet red pepper relish, coleslaw, etc. which vary by seasonable availability). Choice of drinks is available from 30 gourmet teas and coffees brewed to your perfection. Dessert is also included in the "Depression Dinners". It seems that "vanilla" was too expensive for the average cook during the depression, but "Moon-Shine" was always available. After the "alcohol" burns off in the oven, a delightful flavor remains, ie. the invention of "WHISKEY CAKE". Sugar was also rationed, but bees always had honey, thus the "HONEY CAKE". Besides the cakes, we also have authentic fruit and nut pies...everyone in those dark days had a bearing tree of sorts...so you might find apple, cherry or pecan pie also on the dessert menu.

Tea Parties are available at the Cafe at $12.50 per person with a tour of the Historic Dunk's Ferry Inn, including teas, tea sandwiches, and a sweet tray. Paid Reservations needed.

High Tea, which is a full meal, can be had with reservations $25 per person, and includes tour of two Historic Inn's next door and across the street, Reservations needed. The high tea meal includes either (1) Southern Delight: a ham dinner or (2) American Revolutionary Dinner of Beef Stew. Each is served with assorted vinegretteas (coleslaw, 3 bean salad, and others), and a sweet tray for desert. Call to see if the date you need is still available. Deposit of minimum 10 persons is paid to hold the date. Final payment must be made 10 days prior to event. Deposits cannot be returned, but with 48 hours notice, new date can be chosen.
